One last try – then he found King Tut's tomb
November 1922: after five years of almost nothing, Howard Carter gets one final season. On day 4 his team finds a single step cut into the rock – the way down to Tutankhamun's tomb, hidden under rubble and workers' huts. Inside: 5,398 objects. And the famous "curse"? A myth.
